On September 20th, 2025, Senator Rand Paul gave a speech on “Free Speech in America,” hosted by the Young Americans for Freedom. Senator Paul (R-KY) would praise Trump’s approach to small governance relating to DOGE, while criticizing the President over tariffs & the bombing of a Venezuelan ship earlier in the year. Sticking to his libertarian beliefs, Senator Paul highlighted that American innovation came through limited regulation of the economy, thus opposing the President’s plan to invest in Intel, calling it a “step towards socialism.” During the week, Senator Rand Paul was the only Republican to vote against Trump’s proposed funding extension, due to concerns of excessive spending.
