On April 4th, 2026, the National Solidarity Group of Iran (NSGI) orchestrated a demonstration in DC’s Farragut Square, in which they protested against the Islamic Regime’s control of the country. The protesters, mainly consisting of Iranian expats, highlighted their support for the exiled crown prince Reza Pahlavi and opposition towards Islamic theocratic rule that has controlled the country since 1979. They specifically thanked Senators James Lankford (R-OK) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) for being vocal supporters of the United States’ intervention in Iran. While speeches echoed through the loudspeakers brought by the NSGI demonstrators, they attracted the attention of a small group of counter-protesters who were pro-Iranian regime supporters. They would disrupt the protest by shouting at the NSGI demonstrators while waving the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The DC metropolitan police intervened, breaking up the situation before it could escalate. They would separate the two sides, removing a counter demonstrator from the Square. Afterwards, the NSGI speakers continued to voice their support for the administration’s current war against the Iranian Regime.
