October 7th, 2025 marked two years since the October 7th attacks, and Israel’s subsequent invasion of Gaza. Protestors took to the streets outside George Washington University's campus to express their outrage at the United States’ support of Israel, and their treatment towards Palestinians. Across from them, a counter protest took place in support of Israel’s campaign against Hamas. With high tensions in the air, the DC metropolitan police acted as mediators to keep the peace. In October of 2025, Hamas accepted parts of President Trump’s September peace plan, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict; agreeing to give up administrative control to an independent technocratic body, and releasing the hostages. However, Hamas has not agreed to de-arm, prompting President Trump to release a statement that unless the group doesn’t agree to all the demands, they’ll face “total obliteration”.
